The cost of information is the lowest since humanoids began walking on two legs. But the cost of higher education is, well, higher than ever. Universities are not changing with the times.
Here are some examples to our advantage.
wikiipedia
wikipedia.org - the original free encyclopedia
Britanica
https://www.britannica.com/ - still the best and only 100 bucks a year for the family, constantly update but I do find multiple references to a topic confusing
Curiosity Stream
https://curiositystream.com/ - This documentary series was created by the man who brought us the Discovery Channel. Scads of first rate production on everything from outer space to I see today Jane Goodall's chimp studies. Ridiculously cheap at about 3 bucks a month. It is a public company whose stock CURI has finally taken off.
The Great Courses
https://www.thegreatcoursesplus.com/
I am really taken with this streaming service. The firm hires expert professors in their fields. First rate production values. The site did charge by the course, typically about 40 bucks, but now they are streaming at 150 bucks a year. What a deal compared to university tuition. the course cannot be downloaded but can be watched as many times as one likes. I am watching Electrical Engineering for Everyone, first person to ever explain difference in volt, amp, and watt
Master Class
https://www.masterclass.com They hire famous peole like Martin Scorcese to teach how they do it. Interesting, I don't recall what I paid but again reasonable.
National Geographic
https://www.nationalgeographic.com/ - digital for only 39 bucks a year. other versions include history and kids, that may be a first time price likely to be higher on renewal but you get access to ALL oast issues back to 1888 when it began
